Stencil Before Screening

I have been wanting to try screen printing for a while now. I have all the supplies and know-how thanks to posts at Craft and Threadbanger, along with a plethora of other sources, yet I am hesitant to just do. Soon I will. Until then I will share with you this Freezer Paper factory stencil in gold on green cotton. If you haven't stenciled before I must tell you it is super simple and addictive, strongly suggested! I framed the print and although this pic has the earrings piercing the fabric I have since strung wire across to hang the earrings on. The wire reminds me of electrical wires and works with the factory motif and horizontal smoke lines. I love seeing my accessory choices displayed for me. I feel like I dress in a boutique!

A few pieces I've done hanging around the house.

I just realized, all animals.

I painted my dresser "poolside blue" and all of a sudden nothing in the bedroom matched. The octopus was needed to tie together the colors in my room. The frame is an old plaster cast one with black brushed over it a bit. A quilt and another bird painting were also produced in a rush to renew balance.

I saw a deer silhouettesomewhere and had to give this a try. I am loving deer right now. I was a deer forHalloween last year. I even have a cute pair of deerearrings gifted to me by my Step-mom last weekend fromHeartfelt. They are very sweet. I really need a new animal obsession. Halloween is just around the corner you know.
Ahhh, pandas! This one is a tall skinny piece with a bit of doodle collage and fur mixed in. I love the yellow post-it colored background.

And sheep. This was a gift to E. The background is a glisteny gold wash painted onto a heavy block of mahogany, beautiful piece of wood.

Potato prints and doodle collage on a wood floor scrap.

Bug

This hat is one of the first things I ever made. I made it in 2000 while at UCSC and then proceeded to make a dozen others for friends and family. I caught the making bug!

And here is another bug I caught in NYC.
I decided to do a painting of it before tossing it out of my
13
th story window as a warning to any future bugs
thinking about entering my apartment and I swear it worked.
It was the first and only one I ever saw. Mounted.
